Bruce Overby is a fiction writer with particular interest in issues of loss and belonging, family and relationships, the human condition in a technology-driven world, and addiction. His fiction has appeared in Storyglossia, the Green Mountains Review, the Evening Street Review, and the anthology Home of the Brave: Stories in Uniform from Press53. “Bookmarks,” the story of a brother’s struggle with alcoholism, his love of poetry, and the sometimes disturbing mix of the two, won first prize in the Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition.
Bruce’s debut novel, The Cyclone Release, was a finalist in the Blue Moon Novel Competition and is available now from Madville Publishing.
Bruce is a graduate of the MFA in Writing Program at Queens University of Charlotte. He lives in Northern California with his wife Caroline.
